During the third Janez Jan\u0161a government, ministers Aleksandra Pivec, Lilijana Kozlovi\u010d and Toma\u017e Gantar resigned, while Ale\u0161 Hojs submitted a resignation letter that the prime minister did not accept.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finance Minister Klemen Bo\u0161tjan\u010di\u010d claimed on TV Slovenia’s current affairs show Politi\u010dno s Tanjo Gobec<\/em> on 29 September that \u201cnot a single minister resigned in the previous government, even if there were significantly more scandals back then\u201d. He specifically mentioned scandals over \u201cstupid taxes\u201d and the purchase of respirators and protective masks during the Covid pandemic, adding that some ministers had even been taken into custody by criminal investigators and despite that \u201cnothing had happened\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the things that the presenter and the minister discussed was the \u201cblue lights scandal\u201d: In September, N1 reported<\/a> that the driver of Emilija Stojmenova Duh, who has since resigned from her post of digital transformation minister, had illegally used blue lights on an Austrian motorway. On the day N1 broke the news, the minister offered<\/a> her resignation to the prime minister, who accepted<\/a> it immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three ministers resigned during the third government of Janez Jan\u0161a, which was in office from March 2020 to June 2022. Aleksandra Pivec, the minister of agriculture, forestry and food, resigned at the October 2020 National Assembly session<\/a>, just before MPs were due to debate a motion of no confidence. In December of the same year, Toma\u017e Gantar, the minister of health, resigned<\/a> as a result of the Pensioner Party’s withdrawal from the coalition. Lilijana Kozlovi\u010d, the minister of justice, resigned<\/a> in May 2021 due to setbacks in the appointment of European delegated prosecutors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2020, Ale\u0161 Hojs, the minister of the interior, submitted<\/a> a resignation letter, but his resignation was not accepted by the prime minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A portion of the minister’s claim \u2013 that there were “significantly more affairs in the previous government\u201d \u2013 cannot be credibly verified, as the assessment of what constitutes an affair is subjective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
