Tense relations between Kosovo and Serbia are nothing new. Mutual hostility often spills over into the media, which are frequently inclined \u2013 without any arguments \u2013 to pass judgment on one side or the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that vein is the headline of an article published by the IN4S portal<\/a> (archived here<\/a>), which claims that Kosovo\u2019s Prime Minister Albin Kurti confirmed that bloodshed against Serbia is being prepared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeneral attack on Serbia being prepared: Kurti confirmed they are preparing for bloodshed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the text, IN4S refers to a post in the Serbian paper Novosti (archived here<\/a>), and both articles state the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Prime Minister of the so-called fake state, in a caretaker mandate, Albin Kurti, stated that more than one billion euros will be allocated to the so-called Kosovo Security Force (KSF) over the next four years and announced the development of military drones that will be produced in the so-called Kosovo. Kurti also announced that a joint unit will be formed with the Armed Forces of Albania, reports Reporteri.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also found the post on Facebook across several profiles (1<\/a>, 2<\/a>, 3<\/a>, 4<\/a>) archived here: 1<\/a>,2<\/a>,3<\/a>, 4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This statement also prompted a reaction<\/a> from the former Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, who claimed that forming military alliances directed against Serbia recalls what was done in the 1990s, adding that, when viewed from a historical perspective, it is clear what is being prepared and that it is being done against the Serbian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in Kurti\u2019s statement on the purchase of weapons<\/a> (archived here<\/a>), Serbia is not mentioned anywhere. He states that the goal is to deepen and expand bilateral and multilateral international cooperation with NATO member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStrengthening the army will be achieved through the purchase of weapons, training and education within the country, in cooperation with Albania and at the most prominent military academies in partner countries,\u201d Kurti emphasized, adding that a joint military unit with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania will also be established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also said that more than one billion euros will be allocated to the army in the next mandate and announced the development of military drones \u201cMade in Kosovo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement of one billion euros for the army is not new. The Kosovo Prime Minister had previously said that additional funds would be invested in the army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, in March of this year, during a Government session, he announced<\/a> (archived here<\/a>) that if he were again at the head of the Government, more than one billion euros would be allocated from the budget to the Kosovo Security Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, announcements about the modernization of the Kosovo Security Forces are not new, and in these announcements Kurti did not threaten any attack or bloodshed against Serbia. For this reason, we assess the publications of the aforementioned media as clickbait.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rating \u201cClickbait\u201d is given to a media report whose headline has no basis in the article that follows. Such articles aim to attract audience attention through sensationalist headlines that promise content that does not actually exist and are primarily motivated by financial interests, namely, increasing readership. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
