Disinformation About Serbian Students in Exile"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raskrinkavanje.me\/analiza\/otkud-hrvatska-zastava-u-hrvatskoj-dezinformacije-o-srpskim-studentima-u-egzilu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Original article <\/a>(in Montenegrin) was published on 11\/11\/2025; Author: Jovana \u0110uri\u0161i\u0107<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those who oppose the student blockades in Serbia \u2013 whether political actors, media outlets, or social media users \u2013 often claim that the protests are being orchestrated by a \u201cthird party,\u201d alleging that neighboring countries are instructing the demonstrators, most frequently pointing the finger at Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A rally in support of students from Serbia was recently held in Zagreb on the anniversary of the tragedy in which sixteen people were killed when a concrete canopy collapsed in Novi Sad. The protest took place in front of the Embassy of Serbia in Zagreb, and some used the event to promote a narrative claiming that the protests were backed by a neighboring country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBlockaders from the wanted list in Croatia, standing next to the Croatian flag!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a fugitive group including Mila Pajic, Branislav Djordjevic, Anja Pitulic, and Jovan Drazic, Doroteja Antic and Dejan Bagaric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is obvious that behind them stands the Ustasha state, where they are now hiding,\u201d reads the posts we found on Facebook (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/snsnasastranka\/posts\/2614324705601453\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=1459455778490968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2<\/a>), Instagram (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DQhJdvdDJ-H\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DQgzyMXjLvN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DQgzea4jA5n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3<\/a>) and TikTok (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@lazarstanojevicg2\/video\/7567737931910188299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1<\/a>) (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/8u0Lv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">archived here<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"518\" data-id=\"12147\" src=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/djj-768x518-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/djj-768x518-1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/djj-768x518-1-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is this about?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several hundred students and citizens <a href=\"https:\/\/n1info.rs\/vesti\/protest-ispred-ambasade-srbije-u-zagrebu-prisutni-i-aktivisti-stav-a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gathered in front of the Embassy of Serbia<\/a> to express support for those assembled in Novi Sad. Among them were activists from the organization Students Against Authoritarian Rule (STAV), whom the post\u2019s author mentioned. These are <a href=\"https:\/\/n1info.rs\/vesti\/studenti-iz-stava-u-egzilu-u-hrvatskoj-necmeo-odustati-dok-vucic-ne-padne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">students who have been living in exile in Croatia since March of this year, after being accused in Serbia of an alleged attempt to overthrow the constitutional order.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gathering in front of the Serbian Embassy in Croatia\u2019s capital, marking the anniversary of the Novi Sad canopy collapse, was called by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ksfpzg\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=22847f11-fea2-447f-a775-ab22020531a4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">students of the Faculty of Political Science<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/szffzg\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=22847f11-fea2-447f-a775-ab22020531a4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Faculty of Philosophy Zagreb,<\/a> via Instagram, and representatives of these university units were among those present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They recalled that on November 1, 2024, a recently renovated concrete canopy collapsed, killing 16 people. \u201cNovember 1, Zagreb, 11:30, Embassy of Serbia. One year, zero accountability,\u201d they wrote in the posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, the so-called \u201cblockaders from the wanted list,\u201d as labeled in the posts, were not standing \u201cnext to the Croatian flag.\u201d As explained, the protest was held in front of the Embassy \u2013 more precisely, across the street from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Serbian Embassy in Zagreb is located at <a href=\"https:\/\/zagreb.mfa.gov.rs\/ambasada\/kontakt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">23 Jabukovac Street<\/a>. What appears behind the gathered people is not that building, but the building of a private school located at <a href=\"https:\/\/pkg.hr\/kontakt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jabukovac Street 26<\/a> in front of which the Croatian flag is displayed. Footage from the gathering shows participants standing across from the Embassy, that is, in front of the school; when the camera pans to the right, the embassy building at number 23 is visible, along with the Serbian flag flying at half-mast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Prosvjed podr\u0161ke studentima Srbije ispred veleposlanstva Republike Srbije u Zagrebu\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UeVdwUdAqwA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A simple search on Google Maps shows Jabukovac Street, the Serbian Embassy, and the building across the street referenced in the disputed posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"12148\" src=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj-1200x675.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rtj.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is therefore clear that the participants were not standing beneath the Croatian flag, as claimed in the posts, but that the protest took place in front of the Serbian Embassy in Zagreb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In light of the above, we rate the social media posts as disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cDisinformation\u201d rating is given to media reports that use well-known and accurate facts but interpret them in a misleading manner.
