The video is shared alongside claims that the police stopped her after confusing the colors of her bag with the Russian flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"438\" height=\"687\" src=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12593\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-12.png 438w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-12-191x300.png 191w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the video is authentic, the claim shared alongside it is false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contacted by Faktoje, Simona Gravite, Head of Public Relations at the Latvian State Police, clarified that the incident occurred on 9 May 2026 in the city of Salaspils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 9 May, Russia marks <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Victory_Day_(9_May)\">Victory Day<\/a>, commemorating the Soviet Union\u2019s victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 9 May this year, Gravite stated that the Latvian State Police carried out enhanced operations across the country to prevent violations related to the <em>\u201cglorification of military aggression and war crimes.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>Special attention was therefore given to memorial sites and areas where gatherings were possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the incident in question, Gravite said that <em>\u201cthe police also paid attention to individuals who had arrived at the specific location to clarify the circumstances and establish their identity.
