Only Donald Trump probably knows the future of the world\u2019s most powerful military alliance. For quite some time, the U.S. president has threatened to break up NATO because he does not want the United States to continue spending significantly more on defense than the alliance\u2019s other members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to tensions is the war in Iran, where Trump expected support from NATO allies but largely did not receive it.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this fragile alliance, where every new development is closely watched, the portal Intermagazin published<\/a> the following headline: (archived here<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Speaker of the National Assembly, Zoran Stevanovic, has openly announced a referendum on leaving NATO, not as a distant idea but as a political promise that will be fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stevanovic leaves little room for doubt. He clearly states that Slovenia will organize a referendum on leaving NATO, emphasizing that this is an obligation to voters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
