The OSCE has denied the allegations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every day, the website Sputnik publishes articles containing daily updated information related to the war in Ukraine. In one such <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/86LXl\">article<\/a>, published on March 1, 2022, a paragraph mentioned the alleged capture of the vehicle of the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). An update of the article made at 8:42 a.m. featured information that &#8220;Ukrainian nationalists captured about twenty OSCE vehicles&#8221;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c-bq-red\"><em>Ukrainian nationalists capture about 20 OSCE vehicles<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c-bq-red\"><em>Ukrainian nationalists captured about twenty vehicles of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Kramatorsk. The fate of the mission members is unknown, the People&#8217;s Militia of the DNR announced.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This part of the article also contains two videos, which were published on March 1, 2022, on Sputnik\u2019s account on the social network Telegram (<a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/sputniksrbija\/13253\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/ySAak\">2<\/a>). However, these announcements do not claim that &#8220;about twenty OSCE vehicles were captured&#8221;. Instead, the footage shows &#8220;evacuation of OSCE personnel from Kyiv&#8221;, as well as footage of &#8220;4 out of 30 OSCE vehicles&#8221; that remained &#8220;in Lugansk&#8221; .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The claim about the alleged capture of the vehicle of the OSCE mission by &#8220;Ukrainian nationalists&#8221; was published by a dozen other media from the region. Some media published this statement in live updated daily articles (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/O9IWx\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/nGgDX\">2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/a3Ca6\">3<\/a>), while others published it in separate articles (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/2029U\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/IiiJF\">2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/wEMlj\">3<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/bb5YJ\">4<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/Leg1V\">5<\/a>). Pink (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/yBCy4\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/4LSDQ\">2<\/a>) and 24 sevens (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/8WwGC\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/QcnXe\">2<\/a>) published this statement in articles that are constantly updated and in separate articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.vn\/vrR3T\">article<\/a> from March 1, 2022, Srbin (.info) presented the claim that &#8220;Ukrainian nationalists captured about twenty OSCE vehicles&#8221; as capturing observers of this organization.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c-bq-red\"><em>(LIVE) Ukrainian nationalists capture OSCE observers<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the claim that the observers were allegedly captured, the article also contains a claim about the &#8220;capture&#8221; of about twenty OSCE vehicles, which was published in other media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>What are the facts?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osce.org\/who-we-are\">The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)<\/a> is the world&#8217;s largest regional security organization. According to the official website of this organization, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osce.org\/special-monitoring-mission-to-ukraine\">OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM<\/a>) began on March 21, 2014, &#8220;following a request from the Ukrainian government to the OSCE and a consensus decision of all 57 OSCE participating states. The SMM is an unarmed, civilian mission, present on the ground 24\/7 in all regions of Ukraine. Its main tasks are to observe and report impartially and objectively on the situation in Ukraine and to facilitate dialogue between all parties to the crisis&#8221;. The teams of this mission are deployed in several Ukrainian areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Where does the claim about \u201ccapturing vehicles\u201d come from?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The allegations about the allegedly captured vehicles came from the military formation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People&#8217;s Republic, the People&#8217;s Militia of the DNR. On March 1, 2022, on their official <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/nm_dnr\">account<\/a> on the Telegram network, it was<a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/nm_dnr\/6559\"> announced<\/a> that &#8220;according to operational information, Ukrainian nationalist formations, taking advantage of the situation in Kramatorsk, captured about twenty OSCE SMM vehicles&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement also states that &#8220;the fate of the mission members is unknown&#8221;, and that these vehicles will &#8220;undoubtedly be used to carry out provocations against OSCE employees&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/nationalities-papers\/article\/donbas-war-and-politics-in-cities-on-the-front-mariupol-and-kramatorsk\/DE686D74FD88BD206485B3172F2EC3DE\">is located<\/a> in the east of the country, in the border area between the territory controlled by Ukraine and the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People&#8217;s Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Are OSCE vehicles or observers captured in Ukraine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OSCE denied allegations about \u201ctheir vehicles being captured\u201d in Kramatorsk on its official Twitter account. The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OSCE\/status\/1498726532847747075\">announcement<\/a> was made on March 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2757 All OSCE vehicles in Kramatorsk are accounted for. Reports that @OSCE_SMM vehicles were stolen from our compound are false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"335\" src=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/osce.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5075\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/osce.png 680w, https:\/\/seecheck.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/osce-300x148.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Ukrainian fact-checking portal StopFake states in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stopfake.org\/ru\/fejk-ukrainskie-natsionalisty-zahvatili-v-kramatorske-20-avtomobilej-smm-obse\/\">article<\/a> from March 2, 2022, a representative of the OSCE Mission to Kramatorsk denied allegations of their vehicles &#8220;being captured&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine also publishes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osce.org\/ukraine-smm\/reports\">daily reports<\/a> on the security situation in this country. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osce.org\/files\/2022-03-01%20Daiy%20Report_ENG.pdf?itok=77066\">report<\/a> for March 1, 2022, does not state that their vehicles and\/or observers were &#8220;captured&#8221; in Kramatorsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, the Organization for Security and Safety in Europe denied the allegations about the &#8220;capture of about twenty vehicles&#8221; of this organization in Kramatorsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the facts, we assess the claim that &#8220;Ukrainian nationalists captured about twenty OSCE vehicles&#8221;, initially published on the website Sputnik, as <strong>fake news<\/strong>.
