Claim: Kamala Harris wore hidden earpieces during the debate with Donald Trump
Verdict: False
The first televised debate between presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on September 10 sparked curiosity and, as expected, accusations of bias. One of these accusations was the claim that Vice President Harris was wearing a concealed earpiece, receiving suggestions for her responses.
This theory fuels critics who believe the Democratic candidate lacks the proper preparation to handle the presidential role, while also suggesting it would violate the rules of fairness in the televised debate.
As proof of this claim, two comparative images were widely shared on social media.
One image shows a person with a pearl earring, which the poster alleges contains an embedded earpiece. The other image in the right depicts the earrings worn by Kamala Harris during the debate, also styled as pearls. Supporters of the post suggested that both earrings are the same earpiece.
The earrings depicted on the left are the Nova H1, created by the German company ‘Icebach Sound Solutions’. These earrings consist of an ear connector and a pearl that contains the necessary components to listen to music and take calls, allowing them to function as genuine headphones using Bluetooth technology.
However, these are not the earrings that Kamala Harris wore during the televised debate on September 10. While both the Nova H1 and Harris’s earrings contain a pearl, their designs are different. The Nova H1 has a single connector, whereas Harris’s pearl is situated between two parallel lines, part of Tiffany & Co.’s “Hardwear” collection. This isn’t the first time Harris has worn this particular model in public.
It’s also important to highlight that the Democratic candidate has spoken out against Bluetooth devices, viewing them as a security threat. Consequently, Harris opts for wired headphones instead.
