The myth of the series’ visions about a scene that has never aired on TV.
The American animated show ‘The Simpsons’ is often said to have predictive capabilities regarding significant global events. One such prediction involves the supposed end of Israel, which was published after missile launches from Iran.
A photo that has circulated on social media shows Homer Simpson, the iconic character from ‘The Simpsons’, raising a glass in front of a tombstone. The gravestone features an engraving of the Israeli flag along with the years 1948-2024.
The post received comments from users like ‘perhaps The Simpsons have hit the target again’.
However, this image is digitally fabricated and spreads false information. Antonia Coffman, an executive consultant for ‘The Simpsons’, informed our Italian fact-checking colleagues at Facta.news that this is a manipulated image and that Homer has never appeared in this scenario in any episode of the series.
The image was first shared on September 7 on X by a profile that criticizes Israeli state policies. Additionally, the label on the bottle Homer is holding reads ‘Meter’, a reference that also appears in other false images from this account.
The same scene has been used in other memes since May 2024, but in that case, the grave had the name of French President Emmanuel Macron. In both instances, the images are fake.
