Only some products distributed by Mueller Drogerie and products purchased in two Austrian stores were subject to the recall, according to the Food Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection Administration.
Aktivni.metropolitan published an article on 28 October headlined If you have them at home, don’t drink them: Fanta, Coca Cola, Sprite and other popular drinks are being removed from our shelves.

The headline implies that all the drinks listed will be recalled. The author of the article reproduced a 24 October announcement by the Food Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection Administration saying that only some soft drinks were being recalled due to possible metal particles, as reported to the Administration by the distributor, Mueller Drogerie.

As the announcement points out, the soft drinks recalled were from Coca-Cola HBC Austria and consumers were advised not to consume the drinks but to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase. A day later, the Administration published a new clarification that the bottles in subject to the recall are half-litre bottles of Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite and Mezzomix with a best before date between 2 February and 12 April 2025.

In a notice published on 31 October, the Administration explained that one of the reasons the products in question are present in Slovenia is because Slovenian consumers purchased them in two Austrian retail chains, Metro and Transgourmet. Both chains have informed Slovenian customers that these products may contain metal particles.

Razkrinkavanje.si asked Coca-Cola HBC Austria and Mueller Drogerija, as well as Metro and Transgourmet, to provide information on the quantity of these products on the Slovenian market. We did not receive a reply by the time of writing.

We have informed Aktivni.metropolitan of our findings and will publish their response when we receive it.

Because the headline does not reflect the content of the article, in which the author explains that the recall affects only certain soft drinks, we have labelled it clickbait according to the Razkrinkavanje.si methodology.
