Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) has confirmed to Faktograf that a video showing the Croatian prime minister promoting a fast-earnings platform is not authentic.

Artificial intelligence-generated scams have become almost a daily occurrence on social media. Users are served a wide range of fraudulent offers – from clothing, footwear and electronics at unrealistic prices, to “miracle cures” that allegedly treat nearly all diseases, to investment platforms that require an initial deposit in order to begin generating large profits.

Such scams routinely misuse the voice and likeness of well-known public and political figures. In the political sphere, the most frequently targeted individuals have been President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, both of whom Faktograf has repeatedly written about in the context of AI-generated fraud.

The latest AI-generated scam circulating on social media features Prime Minister Andrej Plenković appearing to promote a platform that allegedly enables citizens to earn large sums of money in a short period.

A video published on a suspicious page titled “Joanna Glover” shows HRT television presenter and editor Đurica Drobac introducing an address by the prime minister about the supposed platform, named “Brieventexfin”. In the video, the following is stated:

Đurica Drobac:

“Today’s news has literally shaken the whole of Croatia. Andrej Plenković has issued an urgent statement that experts are already calling historic. According to the prime minister, thanks to the innovative platform Brieventexfin, every citizen of Croatia can achieve complete financial independence in the shortest possible time. Social networks are flooded with discussions, people are asking whether it is possible that stable income is now available to everyone, despite all crises. While economists are assessing the global consequences of this step for the state, experts are calling this initiative a true technological revolution.”

Andrej Plenković:

“I want to share with you news that will forever change the life of every Croatian family. I can no longer keep this secret. In partnership with an international fund, we have officially launched the Brieventexfin platform in Croatia. Our goal is simple — to provide citizens with stable income and security for the future by opening access to financial tools that until now were a privilege reserved only for large corporations and banks. Just imagine, already in the first month, the average income of participants exceeded 2,500 euros, even though the initial investment amounted to only 250 euros. Brieventexfin uses advanced artificial intelligence and the most precise algorithms that execute transactions with efficiency of up to 97 percent. This is a reliable, transparent and proven system that gives an opportunity to everyone. In this project, I see enormous potential for Croatia. It is an opportunity for parents to repay loans, build their own homes and secure a dignified future for their children. Getting started is very simple — register, wait for a call from your personal manager and choose your strategy. You will see your first results within 24 hours. I am proud that we have made this system available right here in our country. But remember, this opportunity is limited in time. Those who start now will be the first leaders of a new financial era.”

HRT: “The Video Has Nothing to Do With Us”

The video is fabricated and generated using artificial intelligence. Even a cursory viewing shows that the audio does not match the lip movements of the presenter or the prime minister. Additionally, the prime minister’s speech contains several unnatural word stresses and awkward intonation patterns, indicating synthetic voice generation.

HRT confirmed to Faktograf that the recording is not authentic. The public broadcaster stated:

“The aforementioned video, of course, has nothing to do with Croatian Radiotelevision.”

Furthermore, had the prime minister genuinely promoted a platform promising high and rapid financial returns, such a statement would have been widely reported by credible media outlets. No such coverage exists.

No Such Thing as Guaranteed Fast Profit

Fraudulent investment opportunities and other fake financial offers are a common tactic used by online scammers. Police warn that criminals use “sophisticated tricks and promises in order to extract money or valuable financial information from you.”

Croatia’s Ministry of the Interior (MUP) lists seven of the most common types of online financial fraud on its website and provides guidance on how to avoid them. Among them are investment scams that lead users to believe they are making a smart investment or that present an exceptionally attractive but false online offer, such as this one.

Common warning signs include frequent unsolicited calls, promises of significant profit and guaranteed security of investment, time-limited offers, and claims that the opportunity is available only to selected users. The Ministry advises:

“Be suspicious of offers that promise a secure investment, guaranteed returns and high profit.”

In conclusion, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is not promoting the Brieventexfin platform, nor is there any legitimate investment scheme that guarantees daily earnings exceeding €2,500 from a €250 deposit. The video of the alleged address, introduced by an HRT presenter, is AI-generated. HRT has confirmed that the video is not authentic.
