At the beginning of February 2026, the former Prime Minister of Kosovo and Leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, started an official visit to the USA.
Following this visit, news circulated on social media and Albanian-language portals claiming that Haradinaj had been arrested at Capitol Hill by the FBI. The news was accompanied by an image that shows Haradinaj escorted by two FBI agents.

According to the news, Haradinaj was arrested immediately after attending the traditional National Prayer Breakfast ceremony, and that his office had issued a statement calling the arrest unacceptable.
None of this is true, including the image above, which was most likely created using artificial intelligence (AI) software.
The news published on February 2 claims that Haradinaj was arrested after the Prayer Breakfast, which is set to take place at the Washington Hilton in Washington DC on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The arrest is reported before it even happens.
The fact that Ramush Haradinaj was not arrested on February 2 is easily confirmed by his presence at several scheduled events during his visit to the USA, footage of which has been shared on his social media accounts.

Haradinaj is also seen in photos from the Interparliamentary Security Forum held at the U.S. Congress on February 4, where the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Niko Peleshi, was also present.

Meanwhile, there is no report of Ramush Haradinaj’s arrest on the AAK website, the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, or the U.S. Department of State. This information has also been confirmed as false by our colleagues at Kallxo.com in Kosovo.
