The video shows two men walking toward the altar holding hands. One is dressed in an extravagant pink outfit and covered in tattoos, while the other wears a white suit and white cape. The footage was accompanied by claims stating (1, 2): (archived: 1, 2)
“In Lviv, Ukraine, the first gay marriage ceremony was held. If this is not proof of Ukraine’s ‘readiness’ to join the EU, then we do not know what Brussels is still waiting for.”

As expected, the comments section quickly filled with insults and various derogatory remarks. However, the video has absolutely nothing to do with Ukraine.
It actually shows the wedding of Swedish opera singer Rickard Soderberg and his partner Anders, which took place in Malmo in June of last year. Swedish media reported that the wedding sparked a wave of online hate and that Soderberg responded by saying his focus remained on love.
According to Swedish media:
“The celebration of love became a lifelong memory, but at the same time, a storm of hatred erupted on social media. Rickard Soderberg told Nyhetsmorgon that thousands of threats and negative comments arrived after the wedding.
‘The video received many millions of views and more than a thousand death threats. But I can only let it happen and move on. I cannot get stuck in it,’ he said. ‘I focus on those who see love in it, and for everyone else I simply hope that one day they will find peace and humanity.’ “
Photos from the wedding can be found on Soderberg’s Instagram profile, along with many others that clearly show he is open about his sexuality and actively supports LGBT rights.
The video was therefore filmed in Malmo, not Lviv, meaning the claims are rated as disinformation.
The “Disinformation” rating is assigned to media reports that contain a mixture of factual information and inaccurate or partially true content. In such cases, media outlets may not necessarily be aware that false information has been published alongside accurate information. This rating is also applied to reports containing false attributions or headlines that do not accurately reflect the content of the article.
